SEO Case Study: 4 Articles, 4 First Page Results!

Amazing results from a series of four sponsored articles.

Every single one of the four articles below was ranking on the first page of Google’s search results within a week of being posted. This means additional traffic for the sponsorship site, additional exposure for subject of the article, and additional targeted traffic for the advertiser!

Google customizes search results for each person based on their search history. Because of this your own search results may vary. Please search for each of these artists yourself, and let us know in the comments where the LocalSantaCruz.com articles show up for you. To get neutral results for this article we used Chrome’s “Incognito Mode” without cookies. When I search with my own cookied browser the results actually look even better! Every single one of these articles appears in the first, second or third position for me, but I do spend a lot of time on the LocalSC site.

During March and April 2017 Smooth Body Lounge on the West Side Santa Cruz ran four sponsored articles with LocalSantaCruz.com. Local Santa Cruz, or LocalSC, is an art gallery site that works closely with nomBat Branding. Here are the search engine ranking results that the four articles generated:

With positions one and two taken up by Rose’s own website and Instagram account, we were happy to be in position four as well as landing two images in the third position “image pack” results.

Beating out LinkedIn for position 3, I wouldn’t be surprised if this article eventually landed in the number one position for Jody Ryker.

Marsea Marquis had a little more competition and good press on her search results, but Local Santa Cruz still managed to land both a first page article result, and the first image result!

Paige Nutt

Paige Nutt’s feature was the last article of this series, and also the fastest to move into search results. So far the article has landed in position three, and even better, the search results include a photo with the sponsor’s logo. Image results are another opportunity for brand exposure and traffic that could pay off again and again and again.

Contributing to the results: Recently LocalSantaCruz.com updated their content sponsorship package to include a social media management element. When an advertiser sponsors an article, they also get three related posts for their own social media accounts. This addition not only helps advertisers keep a social media heartbeat going, without additional budget (or stress) it also improves the search results for the sponsored articles because the social posts are very shareable by the artists or article subjects themselves. These articles are already well crafted and strategic permanent ads for a company, the addition of social media content for the advertiser gives this type of advertising an amazing bang for its buck.
